+ 간만에 예전에 즐겨듣던 음악(대부분이 메탈인)을 포스팅 해볼까 한다. Garm의 후임으로 ICS Vortex (Simen Hestnaes)가 보컬을 맡은 앨범이다. ICS Vortex (Simen Hestnaes)는 기묘하게도 Arcturus에서도 Garm이 탈퇴한 후 그 자리를 메웠었다. 현재는 Dimmu Borgir에서 약간의 보컬과 베이스를 맡고 있다. 난 전통적인 블랙 보컬(스크리밍으로 가득 찬)은 별로 좋아하질 않고, 클린톤을 적당히 섞어주면 좋아라 한다.

+ 요즘 블로그 로딩 속도가 너무 느려져서 텍스트큐브를 업그레이드 하면서 그런가 하고 여기저기 검색을 해봤는데, 문제는 포스팅에 붙인 외부 링크(속도가 느린 외국의 서버) 때문이었다. 이미지를 다운받아 다시 블로그에 올리는 게 귀찮아서 Copy/Paste를 했었는데... More/Less로 이미지를 붙여도 페이징할 때 모두 로딩한다고 한다.

[World ov Worms] 시절의 공연 영상을 본 적이 있는데, 앨범에서 보컬을 맡은 Daemon이 그렇게 살벌하게 보일 수 없었다. [Aeon] 앨범부터 보컬과 베이스에 Secthdamon를 영입하여 더욱 전형적인 데스를 들려주지만, 데뷔 앨범만큼의 임펙트는 주지 못했다. 이 밴드의 특이점이라면 모든 가사를 엠페러에 참여한 적이 있는 파우스트가 쓴다는 것. 이 곡을 고른 건 순전히 가름이 보컬로 참여했다는 이유이다.

Arcturus - The Chaos Path

La Masquerade Infernale (1997)

블랙계의 (나름) 슈퍼 밴드? 이런 종류의 앨범이 라이센스가 됐다는 게 지금 생각해보면 참 의외다. 데뷔 앨범인 [Aspera Hiems Symfonia]는 프로그래시브적이다 라는 말은 많이 들었지만, 어쨌든 블랙 안에서의 시도였었다. 그러나 이 앨범은 블랙을 거의 탈피한 앨범이다. (블랙 특유의 스크리밍 보컬과 단음 리프도 거의 등장하지 않는다. 오히려 그런 점이 나와 맞는듯하다. 데뷔 앨범을 먼저 접했다면, 이들을 좋아하지는 않았을 거 같다.)

이 곡은 딤무 보거에서 베이스를 치고 있는 Simen "ICS Vortex" Hestnæs가 리드 보컬을 맡았고, 후반부의 Drum&Bass의 삽입도 좋았다. 이 앨범으로 인해 가름의 팬이 되었다.
